Little Dragons is the Firestorm Dojos martial arts class for children 3 to 5 years of age. It is an exciting Firestorm pilot program focusing on character development, physical fitness and practical self-defence developed in response to a pressing community need. The Little Dragons program is designed to teach children about fitness and important life skills which include respect, patience, kindness, honesty and focus.

During the 45-60 minute class, children will learn basic elements of karate, ground skills and focus training within a very playful and positive atmosphere. Through fun, safe and co-operative workouts, our instructors strive to provide children with the skills, energy, awareness and self confidence that they will need to pursue their dreams and make a contribution to the environment and society in which they live.

The Little Dragon's syllabus is based on standard karate principles, modified to suit the abilities and minds of children that are 3-5 years of age. Interspersed with fitness drills and games, basic self-defence techniques are practised. These skills will later assist the children as they progress into the Firestorm Dojos, "Kidz Karate" program.

A child's progress is monitored and demonstrated by the achievement of one of twelve unique badges as well as a structured belt system. The badges portray the twelve animals of the Chinese horoscope; each animal represents a virtue or skill important to life and the martial arts practitioner.

When a child moves into the "Kidz Karate" program a different belt and Gi (uniform) is purchased and worn. The sense of pride and accomplishment in the little guys is astounding and tear jerking.

Upon registration to the Little Dragons, a child will be equipped with a "Little Dragons" Gi (uniform) and white belt. Badges awarded are to be sewn onto the t-shirt as advised by instructors. Children train in bare feet in a secure training environment. Children are required to bring a full water bottle to classes.
