The Firestorm Centre's Studio Box classes are arguably "the best fat burning workout around". They are designed to provide an effective workout based on standard aerobic principles combined with boxing and kickboxing techniques in a fun, light-hearted environment. With high energy music providing a strong motivational stimulus, these classes are proving to be very popular. 

Our main instructor is Mr. Ian Thompson. Ian has a wide and varied experience in both group training and martial arts. He has fought in 33 amateur fights, is a 2nd degree black belt in Karate and a brown belt in judo, conducts very popular boxing circuit sessions in local gymnasiums and runs a very successful personal training business.

The classes combine free air movements and utilise a range of hanging bags, kick pads and focus mitts to produce a high energy, highly effective workout.

At the commencement of each class, the instructor describes and leads the class in various aerobic and anaerobic exercises to warm up and increase blood circulation to the body.

When muscles are warm, the class participants move on to the bags and follow the direction of the instructor. Working alone or in pairs the participants follow the instructor's directions for simple combination manoeuvres. With an increasing intensity of these manoeuvres, a total body and mind workout ensues.

A cool-down period follows the workout. This includes strengthening and abdominal exercises. As participants' heart rates decrease they are guided though a comprehensive stretch routine.

Participants typically comment on how confident and terrific they feel after such workouts.

Most classes are approximately 60 minutes in duration.
