Gradings are a common feature in Zen Do Kai training, we describe them here.
Gradings are conducted to provide students the opportunity to demonstrate that which they have learned at class and to progress to the next level.
It is important for students to experience a feeling of elevation and a sense of achievement. Gradings are held at regular intervals throughout the year.
Students attempt gradings when they, and their instructors, believe they are ready to progress to the next level.
Students work their way through the levels at their own pace.
Following the successful completion of a grading, students receive the next level belt and a certificate of achievement.
