Zen Do Kai students embrace many levels of respect and tradition. The most pertinent of these are expressed here.

Among the many levels of respect and traditions adopted by Zen Do Kai practitioners the following are, above all, most emphasised:
  1. Everyone works.
  2. Nothing is free.
  3. All start at the bottom.

All members of Zen Do Kai must pay respect to higher ranks. It must also be remembered that respect starts at the top and works down, so higher ranks remember that if they lose respect for each other, or even worse, fail to defer respect to students, it will manifest a family collapse.

As a martial artist you are bound to ensure that you employ appropriate degree of self control and discipline. The higher the rank that you attain, the greater the likelihood of inflicting injury to others. You should consider the implications.

'Minoru inaho wa kobe tareru' - The head of an abundant rice plant hangs down.

'Fugen jikko' - Remain silent and put into practice.
