We are conducting a FREE W.A.S.P. introductory workshop on 19th November at the Firestorm Centre.
This class will cover a general overview of simple techniques and
infomation to equip women with the basic tools of empowerment in the face of
assault or attack. The class is designed to allow the participants to get a
hands on trial of these strategies in a safe environment in order to build
confidence in their use for other situations.
During the two hour class we will cover grabs, confinement strategies (i.e.
being held down etc.) and basic striking techniques designed to provide maximum
impact and effectiveness.
The strategies you will learn cover physical defences that are not strength
based (ie. work on anyone, no matter their size) as well as the psychology of
the attacker and the effects of fear on the body and what you can do to get
around it. We will also briefly cover topics that provide a better
understanding on what to do if you ARE attacked, what details to note, who to
go to etc.
The workshop itself is a general overview of our W.A.S.P. (Women's Assertive
Self Protection) Program that we run in 8 week units. Participation in the
workshop does not commit you to the WASP course but will give you a good start
to your own self protection requirements.
The workshop (and W.A.S.P. Program ) are facilitated by fully qualified
instructors with many years of instruction and training between them.
Again the 2 hour intro class is on 19th November at 1.00pm. It will be held at
the Firestorm Centre, unit 9,21 Power Road, Bayswater...right near Bayswater
station. Bookings are essential so if you'd like to book a place or require any
further information please call Kyoshi Mike on 0419 327 672. If you have any friends or
family that would benefit from this workshop please feel free to pass on the
information or book a place for them as well.
